Web Awards from the Early Internet

In the early days of the World Wide Web, people gave and displayed awards for the best web pages. Some used chains of linked home pages to form communities.

Finding web pages was a little difficult. After all, who would ever index the entire Internet, and make the results available FOR FREE?!

I collected quite a few of these award gifs, mostly downloading them and saving them here. A few I just left web pointers to: they are presumably long-gone.

Inevitably, this web page eventually won a web award! In any case, here is a collection from the dawn of the Web.
